ASSESSING YOUR SYMPTOMS

Since mercury has the potential of adversely affecting the various systems of the body, this module presents a questionnaire to help you consider the status of your health and if the possibility of mercury-related symptoms exist. Mercury has been shown to be more toxic to the nervous system and brain than lead, cadmium or even arsenic. Mercury prevents hormones from working properly. For example, when mercury is present it prevents progesterone from binding to the cells. Mercury also interacts with adrenal and other fat-soluble hormones including thyroxin.

Symptoms are grouped into various categories. In each appropriate area, your symptoms for the past 60 days and assign a rating to measure frequency and severity according to the following scale:

0 Never experienced the symptom
1 Occasionally have symptom with moderate severity
2 Occasionally have symptom with severity
3 Frequently have symptom with moderate severity
4 Frequently hace symptom with severity
