An Old Solution to the Obesity Problem

by Gerald H. Smith, DDS, DNM

Obesity’s Effect on Cognitive Function

It has been reported by United Press International (UPI) that obesity in teens affects brain white matter integrity. White matter can be thought of us the “connective tissue” within the brain that relays messages between different sections of gray matter, the main operating tissue within the brain. In other words, obese teens don’t connect parts of their brains well and as such have decreased cognitive abilities.

This decrease in brain integrity can contribute to a lack of emotional control, leading to the seeking of rewards for all actions they do.

Obese teens also have certain areas in the brain that have shrunk as seen on brain scans, compared to their contemporaries of a healthy weight.

Obesity around the world is three times what it was in 1975 with over half adults classified as overweight or obese. In addition to altered brain function obesity increases the incidence of diabetes and cardiovascular disease, both of which negatively impact brain function. Findings published in the journal Neurology indicated that points in excess of healthy BMI can contribute 0.1-0.2 millimeters loss in cortical thickness.

One way that obesity affects the brain is via increased inflammation leading to dementia and Alzheimer’s. Additionally, obesity affects the part of the brain that regulates eating which also leads to overeating while increasing cancer risks. Changing lifestyle (increasing exercise, increasing deep sleep, intermittent fasting, etc.) will result in significant weight loss when combined with dietary changes and hormone balancing.

Stress, grief and obesity alter hormonal balance and decrease immune system strength.

Strategies and methods to decrease stress include exercise, yoga, meditation, prayer, acupuncture and EFT (emotional freedom technique). See the following link for a brief overview of EFT: (Emotional Freedom Technique)

Obesity is not just an esthetic concern but a health and immune system concern. Decreasing obesity increases overall health as well as improves brain function. Carrying excess body fat can cost you more than your self-esteem. It will cost you years of your life, life from your years, tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars as well as personal and professional opportunities.

Even losing a few pounds of extra fat can improve every aspect of your life at home, and at work.

The Solution

The answer is organic, cold pressed omega 6 oils. The brain and nervous system has a 100 to one ratio of omega 6s to omega 3s.The reason the brain deteriorates is simple. The American diet supplies primarily adulterated omega 6 oils. Adulterated omega 6 oils are pro-inflammatory and corrupt the cell membranes preventing oxygen and nutrients from entering the cell plus preventing wastes from exiting. Also the body converts the Parent Essential Oils (Omega 6 linoleic acid and omega 3 alpha-linolenic acid) into DHA and EPA, which the brain only requires 7.2 mg per day as documented by National Institutes of Health. Plus the half-life of DHA and EPA is 2.5 years. There is no deficiency issues. Fish oils, which is the leading supplement sold in the US is flooding the body with 650 mg of rancid derivatives (DHA and EPA), corrupting the cell membranes and producing fat people. Fish oil at room temperature and especially body temperature (98.6F) become rancid and toxic to the body. It literally is a no brainer.

The FAST FOOD Industry and disinformation being disseminated by the medical establishment are the culprits to the obesity problem.

Eat real food!
